The Western Lands Project has published its third book entitled Carving up the Commons: Congress and Our Public Lands.  Previous publications have focused on efforts by the U.S. Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management to trade, sell, or give away public land.  In this new book, the Western Lands Project turns its attention to land deals enacted through the U.S. Congress and addressing ways in which special interests have circumvented policies intended to protect the public interest and the environment.
